The WOFAN ICON-2 project is a five-year (2022 -2027) Mastercard Foundation-funded funded project operational across eight Nigerian  focal states (Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gomber, Benue, Nasarawa) and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The project’s goal is to improve the quality of life for 675,000 young (80% women) small-scale farmers and agripreneurs and their families living across four value chains (rice, maize, groundnut and sorghum) all its states of operation in Nigeria.

The project is designed to link women and youth to livelihoods and empowerment opportunities, increasing their financial inclusion and resilience, breaking down the specific-gender related barriers critical to the success of young women partnering with local civil society and networks to seek effective solutions through amplifying youth’s voice, and utilising technology as a key accelerator to lift youth and smallholder farmers and their families out of poverty. Youth engagement and strong safeguarding principles underpin the entire programmatic approach.
